Why Cavalry Tier List Matters For KvK Season 8

Cavalry is the highest-mobility troop type in RoK. Cavalry commanders dominate:

Open field battles (mobility advantage)
Rally captures (fastest march speed = first to arrive)
Barb farming (high damage per AP)
Honor farming (cavalry + Combo Spam combo)

KvK Season 8 cavalry meta has shifted — Cao Pi has risen to S+ as a secondary, while Saladin's nerf in patch 4.2 dropped him to A. Below is the current tier list.

S+ Tier — Must-Have If You Can Afford

These commanders define the meta. If you have access, they're auto-include in any cavalry build.

Mehmed II is the strongest rally lead in the game right now. His skill stack with Cao Pi pulls 5-7 cavalry kills per rally with the Combo technique on bot V3.

Cao Pi (Cavalry Secondary)

Best as: Secondary to Mehmed II rally pair (must-have)
Pair with: Mehmed II (primary)
Pet pairing: Iron Wolf or Hawk depending on target type
Bot V3 priority: 1 (always include)

Cao Pi's skill damage +25% stacks with ANY rally lead. He's the single most universal secondary commander in the game.

S Tier — Strong Alternatives

Saladin (Cavalry Rally Lead, Nerfed)

Best as: Rally Lead when Mehmed II unavailable
Pair with: Cao Pi or Belisarius (anti-cavalry)
Pet pairing: Sand Lion (anti-counter)

Saladin was S+ pre-patch 4.2. Still a top rally lead but no longer dominates Mehmed II.

Attila (Cavalry Open Field)

Best as: Open Field damage dealer
Pair with: Cao Pi or Chandragupta

Attila is THE open field cavalry damage commander. In Phase 3 Field of Honor, Attila + Chandragupta is the standard build.

Chandragupta (Cavalry Open Field Secondary)

Best as: Secondary to Attila in open field
Pair with: Attila (primary)

Chandragupta's damage scales with Attila's positioning bonus. Together they're a 2x DPS pair.

A+ Tier — F2P Friendly

These are accessible without heavy gem spend, but still competitive.

Tomyris (F2P Cavalry)

Best as: F2P rally lead alternative
Pair with: Cao Pi if available, Cao Cao otherwise
Pet pairing: Iron Wolf (when unlocked)

Tomyris is the strongest F2P-accessible cavalry rally lead. Available via free key chest events.

Belisarius shines when the matched kingdom in KvK is cavalry-heavy. Otherwise, he's not optimal.

Genghis was S-tier in 2024-2025. Patch 4.0 nerfs dropped him to A. Still works but better options exist.

All B-tier cavalry. Use only if you don't have access to higher tier options.
Replace as soon as you unlock A+ tier or above.
